Why it exists
Useful questions rarely arrive at the end of a video. They appear when a speaker makes a surprising claim, skips a step, uses an unfamiliar idea, or describes a framework you want to apply.
A fixed summary cannot anticipate every question. YouTube Conversation keeps the available transcript inside a ChatGPT conversation so you can clarify, challenge, connect, navigate, study, or build from what was said.
What the product does
Paste a public captioned YouTube link and your question into ChatGPT. The product retrieves the complete available timestamped transcript from the visible YouTube page in your Chrome session and gives ChatGPT the source material it needs.
Answers can link back to exact YouTube moments. Those links create an audit trail: you can inspect the original words and context instead of treating a fluent AI answer as automatically correct.
What it is for
YouTube Conversation works across informational video: podcasts, interviews, lectures, documentaries, science, psychology, history, finance, coding, business, nature, and creative tutorials. The job is not only summarization. A spoken framework can become study notes, a claim audit, a comparison, a checklist, a decision model, or an interactive companion.
The product boundary
The current public version understands the spoken material available in the timestamped transcript. It may not understand a silent diagram, gesture, edit, or visual-only action that nobody describes aloud.
The source video must be public, available in your Chrome session, and provide captions or a visible transcript. Private, removed, unavailable, region-blocked, and transcript-free videos are not supported.
Privacy by design
For the free single-video workflow, transcript retrieval stays in your visible Chrome and ChatGPT session. The publisher does not operate a transcript backend that receives or stores the complete transcript.
The website records only coarse, anonymous acquisition events needed to understand which public campaign or referring site produced a visit and whether an install link was selected. Read the complete privacy policy for the exact boundary.

YouTube Conversation is developed by Agustina Meoli as an independent product. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by YouTube, Google, or OpenAI. The public plugin is free to install.
